Fall of 10 percent in mortgage lending

Figures that have been recently released have shown that for the month of November there was a drop of 10 percent in mortgage lending in the UK compared to the previous month. The figures suggest that mortgage lending in November hit the lowest level since May of this year. The Council of Mortgage Lenders has stated that the mortgage lending levels of November of this year were also down by around 14 percent compared to the same month last year. (more…)

BBA reports increase in mortgage lending levels

Mortgage lending fell back in May

According to recently released figures mortgage lending in the UK fell back again in the month of May. The figures were released by the Council of Mortgage lenders, and the data on the report showed that gross lending was around 2 percent lower in May than it was in April, standing at around £10.3 billion. Northern Rock uses taxpayer’s money to revive mortgage lending

Mortgage lending levels rise for October

Figures that have recently been released have shown that mortgage lending for the month of October rose by around 7 percent, with gross mortgage lending totalling £18.7 billion for October compared to £17.5 billion for September. However, whilst mortgage lending for the month has risen compared to the previous month officials have said that lending in October was still around 44 percent lower than the same time last year. CML said mortgage lending fell again in August

According to officials from the Council of Mortgage Lenders mortgage lending levels fell in August, with the value of mortgage lending having fallen by 12 percent compared to July and by 36 percent compared to August of the previous year. The total amount of new mortgage lending for the month came to just £21.8 billion. This was the lowest level of mortgage lending since 2005 and the lowest level of mortgage lending in August since 2002. (more…)
